Kinda suprised there hasn't been a thread started on this... Anyway, I admittedly am not a huge soccer fan but nevertheless, I have been following World Cup very close this year, its truly interesting television. So what does everyone think so far? I know USA got lucky today(also another bad call against USA), but can they get past Ghana is now is the question? Oh, and England versus Germany should be good!

Wow such a manly and angry stand on a message board. Next you'll go on a Enraged tangent about such important internet nerd angered topics such as Madden 11 and EA Sports being the devil. And swearing never to buy one of there games again or take the verbal stand of FUCK VINCE and i will never watch WWE products only to later come on here and discuss just how much you hated what happened in details on the show you swear your not watching.

I have been watching the world cup and i'm torn by watching easily the most skilled England team i can remember, Yet they have no idea just how to play as a team. Now to me the U.S is completely the oposite end of this. I'm not saying that the U.S have no skill because thats completely untrue. But unlike England the U.S are playing great team football (soccer). I watched both games yesterday England live at 930 am. and Caught the tail end of the U.S game right after Donovans last minute clutch goal and watched the replay later that night. And while i admit being baffled at first with just how England could come in 2nd in that bracket i was happy to make it to the top 16. But watching the repeat of the U.S game the Americans lived and died on that pitch for each other as a team, you never felt one player was riding a high or low without his whole team and there country men (who watched) following along. And as for the U.S goal being lucky i just think it was partly karma (the U.S in the past 2 games have had goals taken away on bad calls) and part amazing hussle by the American squad, A never quit attitude. I will root for EN-G-LAND all the way but i'd be lying if i didnt say there was a tiny part of me pulling for team U.S.A.

I don't play Madden (since Madden 95 for SNES), and the only thing I have against EA is how they kept fucking up their Nascar series of games to the point where they stopped making them because fans stopped buying them because they kept almost making the perfect racing game then they'd just dump everything and started over from scratch for no apparent reason.

Soccer plainly bores the shit outta me, be it on TV or In Person, and I just can't help but despise the shit out of it.

The USA team is the epitome of teamwork. Hell, I think they can beat Ghana. Ghana's speed my hurt USA but I really beleive they have teamwork on there side, along with that never say die attitude. Sheer determination and balls will get them as far as the can go, not to mention Bradley is a lot better of a manager than Arena. As far as England, I agree about them being very skilled, I watche the game vs USA and parts of other and I think they need to utilize Rooney more. He had such a killer season this past year and showed that he is the best player in the world ( well for my money atleast.)

Italy not making the knockout round? WOW. I bet Gisspi was on team USA instead of England.

I think America showed the rest of the world how to play Rooney. Every time he touched the ball, got near the ball or even thought about the ball the swarmed him with 2 to 3 players and smothered him. Seem's to be a theme that caught on.

Well played U.S.A.
I think America should be proud of the outing from there world cup team. Even in losing today i think America showed alot of heart and stayed in the game to the finish. I was disapointed that they didn't get the movie style good for round of aplause off the pitch.

I learned 2 things today.
1. The American Soccer anouncer shouldn't be calling any major game yet.
2. Marky HATES Landon Donovan

Meh, I watched part of the USA vs. Ghana game. It was alright, but as usual the US always fails in the round of 16. And also man the football (soccer) players need to stop fucking diving, they look like a bunch of sissies out there flopping around out there and trying to get themselves a free penalty kick.

Such jems as this one.

Man, this country's mentality is so screwed up.

The USA team did way better than any REASONABLE soccer fan expected but as a country we shovel the weight of the world on them like they should have dominated Dream Team style. I'm not even a "fan" of soccer but I was rational enough to realizes these guys did a great thing by getting this far.

England shit the bed! That's all I can say.

As far as USA goes.... They should have made it to the round of 16. Them and England were picked to advance out of their group, so I'm not impressed. Not to mention, they have been ranked inside the top 16 for quiet sometime now. So them losing yesterday wasn't a surprise, should they be satisfied with where they got? Yes, they met exceptions and they didn't exceed them. Was this a moral victory or something to build on? Nope, a loss is a loss and moral victories don't matter.
